A paradise to discover

The Serra de São Mamede Natural Park is one of Europe’s most beautiful and undiscovered areas and a paradise for those who enjoy walking in peaceful, rural surroundings. Its undulating terrain includes forest, wooded hills, olive and chestnut groves and fertile valleys.

Walks are often on ancient tracks that may date back to Roman times. The walks are particularly beautiful in the Spring when wild flowers are very much in evidence.

Look up and you are likely to spot eagles, griffon vultures and kestrels. In spring you will see pairs of storks in their huge nests. The Park is one of the few remaining habitats of the Iberian lynx.

There are well waymarked, mostly circular walking routes within the park varying between 5 kms and 18 kms.  We can provide you with route maps during your stay.

There are also several shorter walks to be enjoyed directly from and around the Tapada do Falcão estate.
